If there was a theme for James and Leah’s wedding, it would be that they wanted a laid-back and love-filled day. One where they could exchange vows surrounded by the people closest to their hearts. From DIY table settings to the locally-catered pizzas, their day exuded all the intimate and fun wedding vibes at Baron’s Creek Camp in Fredericksburg, TX.
Just 2 miles from downtown Fredericksburg, Baron’s Creek Camp is a hidden gem wedding venue with a retro glamping aesthetic. Leah and James truly could not have picked a more perfect venue to celebrate their one-of-a-kind day.
This Fredericksburg wedding location exuded slow and easy vibes on what is typically a pretty stressful day. They both spent a few nights at the venue before the wedding, just to be together and soak in the memories. It was so nice for them to not have to rush through all the preparations on the day-of!
Baron’s Creek Camp features a main camp house with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as the three remodeled vintage trailers around the central campground. The retro and slightly quirky Hill Country vibe was the perfect match for Leah and James’ easy-going and fun personalities.
I recommend setting aside time to see each other before the wedding starts. With so many of my couples, it’s important for them to really be in the moment together and remember why they’re even there in the first place – to say yes to life with their best friend, their ride-or-die. It can be overwhelming to be separated from your person before such a momentous occasion, so first looks are my favorite way to help them steal a private moment and ground them in each other.
For Leah and James, a first look was a no-brainer. I also LOVE that they added their own twist by taking shots together before saying “I do.” For them, it was all about having fun and enjoying the celebration to its fullest. So don’t be afraid to share drinks, enjoy a special snack, read private vows you don’t want anyone else to hear – the options are truly endless. As a photographer, I want my couples to trust me with these intimate moments and know I’m there to make every second meaningful — and come across that way on camera.
Fredericksburg, TX is not only a beautiful small town, but the surrounding Hill Country provides some of the best outdoor ceremony spaces – and Baron’s Creek Camp is truly unique. Towering trees make a beautiful backdrop for an intimate outdoor wedding ceremony, and Leah walked down the aisle on large vintage rugs, adding glamor to the rustic surroundings.
In keeping with their very laid-back and intimate wedding atmosphere, Leah and James didn’t want to have formal-style portraits. Imagine a normal backyard party, except everyone was celebrating their two favorite people getting married.
As the couple mingled, I jumped in to make sure I had casual photos of them interacting with their guests, rather than overly-orchestrated family portraits. It also happened to make for some truly joyous and timeless photos with loved ones.
If you haven’t noticed by now, Leah and James have wonderful energy and playful personalities, and I love how the venue truly accommodated everything they stood for. From their portraits in front of the retro travel trailers to fun and sweet moments enjoying drinks in the clawfoot tub, everything was spontaneous and so in the moment.
Because of how intimate the venue was, the ceremony seamlessly drifted into the reception. From s’mores around the firepit, drinks and pizza to their film camera guestbook, everything about their wedding day was simple, meaningful and so right. They were able to speak to everyone and have a blast celebrating the next chapter together. After the sparkler send-off, they even smoked a joint together. It was the ultimate end to their fun, quirky and truly intimate wedding at Baron’s Creek Camp in Fredericksburg, TX.
