Some weddings stay with you long after the day is done, and Alex & Brandon’s garden party wedding at Woodbine Mansion will forever hold a special place in my heart. From the historic venue to the thoughtful details Alex carefully designed, everything about their day radiated joy.
Love was infused into every little moment.
As an interior designer, Alex has an incredible eye for detail, and it’s one reason she fell in love with the Woodbine Mansion wedding venue. Nestled just six minutes from North Austin, this Texas Historic Landmark is extraordinary. Every room of the mansion has its own distinct charm. Combined with the exterior of the mansion and the surrounding lawns? Simply breathtaking.
The private gardens are filled with wisteria and roses, which made for the perfect romantic garden party vibe that Alex was going for. The classic architecture and green lawns made every moment feel like you fell into a lush garden dream.
In addition to its beauty, Woodbine Mansion features vintage chandeliers, spiral staircases, and stunning suites, offering a perfect blend of elegance and personality. Alex loved how customizable the space was and the fact that it didn’t need much additional decor. With its timeless charm, the mansion is a clean slate that feels truly one-of-a-kind from the moment you set foot on the grounds.
Every corner was beautifully detailed, and thanks to Alex’s interior design expertise, she even added custom touches that elevated the mansion’s garden party vibes. With the help of her family, Alex created STUNNING custom wedding signs, complete with the same floral design that covered the accent and reception tables (and were even on the bartenders aprons during the reception).
Everyone loved them, so Alex is now offering them as customizable wedding rentals so other couples’ can create their own elegant wedding signs.
The morning was a joy-filled affair. Alex and her girls had the BEST time getting ready in one of the mansion’s lux suites. There was so much laughter, excitement, and the best slumber party vibes. I loved capturing the impromptu dancing, how they helped each other get ready and the sweet bond Alex shared with her friends.
She also shared a sweet moment with her mom, who gifted her a little memento to honor her special day – a custom-illustrated portrait of Woodbine Mansion.
Meanwhile, Brandon and his groomsmen were getting ready in the mansion’s sunroom and another suite with a more library, lounge-like vibe. It was the perfect spot for the guys to enjoy some pre-ceremony toasts and just soak in the calm before the big moment. The sunroom’s light made for some gorgeous, laid-back shots of Brandon and his crew.
Before their garden party ceremony outside the mansion, Alex and Brandon decided to have a first touch, one of my favorite moments of the day. They chose to do it around a corner in the mansion’s iconic sunroom, and it was such a tender moment. Without seeing each other, they held hands, swapped gifts and shared some laughs together. It was the perfect little pause before their day began in full-swing.
Next came their wedding ceremony, which was an absolute dream (a recurring theme throughout the day). Set on the lawn with the mansion’s grand columns as the backdrop, Alex and Brandon tied the knot under sprawling vines and surrounded by their favorite people. Duchess Garden Florals absolutely nailed the garden party aesthetic with their arrangements – accenting the space with white, lilac, and light pink blooms.
The flower girl had everyone gushing, and all their wedding guests, dressed in formal garden party attire, added to the elevated and joyous vibe of the day.
Alex’s walk down the aisle was nothing short of breathtaking, and I loved capturing the expressions of their wedding guests throughout the ceremony. You could just feel how deeply Alex and Brandon’s friends and family were connected to the moment.
After the ceremony, it was time for portraits, and I have to say, these might be some of my all-time favorites. Alex’s bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses that complemented each other perfectly, and the parasols they carried were such a fun, elegant touch. The guys looked sharp and dapper on the mansion’s porch, and the whole group was buzzing with joy.
For their couples portraits, Alex and Brandon were so in the moment and absolutely glowing with that just-married-bliss. I loved capturing all the sweet candids of them running around the grounds together. Whether they were laughing, holding hands or stealing a kiss, every photo reflected how deeply they love each other.
Their reception kicked off on the lawn, and it was a full-on garden party under the giant pecan trees. One of my favorite moments was the champagne tower toast – and of course it wouldn’t have been Alex’s wedding without the glass stems accented with little velvet bows (it’s the little things, y’all). The tables were covered in elegant floral centerpieces, string lights twinkled overhead and everything felt so dreamy.
After dinner, Alex and Brandon went indoors for their gorgeous cake-cutting. I also loved that they added photo frames of lost loved ones who were there in memory. It was such a sweet touch and showed just how little decorating the venue needed, but was still so easy to personalize and make their own.
After the cake cutting, golden hour had arrived and Alex and Brandon kicked off the evening with their first dance. It was definitely one of my favorite moments of the day. They couldn’t stop smiling, and Brandon quite literally swept Alex off her feet. The joy between them was so contagious – you couldn’t help but smile watching them.
As the night went on, Alex slipped into a classy mini version of her wedding gown and kicked off her shoes to dance the night away. The garden was lit up with string lights and their giant FARRELLS marquee, casting the most romantic glow over the party (and made a great photo op for guests throughout the night). Everyone danced under the pecan trees, and the entire evening was filled with laughter, music, and unbridled celebration.
Alex and Brandon’s grand exit was the perfect ending to the dreamiest day. As they stepped outside the mansion, their guests showered them in silver streamers, cheering them on as they made their way to their getaway vehicle – a vintage Bronco. It was such a classic and fun way to end the night, and watching them ride off as Mr. & Mrs. Farrell was a moment I’ll never forget.
